There are times God speaks to us or promises us things about our future that seem too good to be true and even overwhelming. There are times that you wonder if you’re truly going to get to where God wants you to be because where you are seems so far from where you want to be. There are also times you wonder if you will finish well because you did not have a good start in life. You ask yourself this question: How can this be? (How can your amazing plans for me be?) the same question Mary asked the angel.
Questions like this come in various ways. For example: how can this happen? Am I good enough? Will I ever find a good man? How will I get that good job? will I be a good wife and mother? It seems impossible. We question our selves and doubt God. We forger that the truest book in the world says that God is the God of all flesh and that there is nothing too hard for Him to do! The Bible also says that with God all things are possible! Isn’t that a very comforting scripture?
We need to start saying “This can be , I will not be stranded because My God is a God that makes a way in the wilderness and rivers in the deserts” (Isaiah 43:19), “This can be, I will not lack, I am a lender to nations because my God is Jehovah Jireh” (Genesis 22:14), “I can be healed because Himself took my infirmities and bore my sickness, by His stripes I am healed” (Matthew 8:17, Isaiah 53:5). Say things like that that in your life and about yourself and your destiny. Do not say things that contradict the word of God about your life. I love how the above verse is a question. It is better to ask questions than to say God can’t do it, because a question is like a prayer of enquiry and God answered. The angel answered Mary and Mary said in verse 38: Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.
Mary believed God’s word despite the fact she wondered and maybe doubted in the beginning. How about you?
Prayer: Father, sometimes Your promises feel far fetched, like it may never happen. Teach me to trust and believe your word Lord. Help my unbelief so that like Mary I can say: “be it unto me according to thy word”. In Jesus’s name, Amen!.
