And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
This scripture is amazing, it shows what should be the priority in our lives. Prayer and the Word, Prayer and the Word! The disciples knew what they were called to do and they did not allow any distractions pull them away from it.
They knew that no matter what they had to give themselves continually to prayer and ministering the word, they did not forget the instructions that Jesus Christ left them with when He was on earth.
In this world, there are distractions, phone calls, text messages, other less important activities try to steal our personal time with God which is the most important and even service to God can even steal your prayer and bible study time if you let it, that is going out to serve in Church when you’ve not even had personal time with God, if that happens continuously then your relationship with God might end up being about your ‘work’ and not enjoying your ‘walk’ and intimacy with Him.
My prayer is that the person reading this will not allow other things replace her prayer time and bible study time. Your path will shine more and more unto perfect day, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Father, by You precious blood, help me not to let other activities take your place, give me wisdom and grace to say no to activities that try to come between us, though I want to maintain relationships with people, I want my service to you to be about you. I receive grace right now to put You at the centre, Amen!
